Fishbook is an Android mobile application developed by Eurofishmarket, designed to help users make informed decisions when purchasing fish. It is the first product of the brand "L'amo" which aims to promote Italian fish products. The app offers over 100 Italian species of fish, crustaceans, and mollusks, providing practical guidance with tricks, photos, and information on seasonality and minimum fish sizes, as well as nutritional and sensory value advice.
The app is divided into categories, including fish, mollusks, crustaceans, and alternatives. Choosing a category displays a list of species, and selecting one allows you to access the relevant species card. The cards include a photo that helps distinguish the species, along with information such as commercial name, origin, whether it is wild-caught or farmed, fresh or frozen, seasonal fishing rules, meat values, nutritional values, and cooking advice.
The "alternative species" category provides options for lesser-known Mediterranean fish species with high organoleptic and nutritional value, which are often more affordable than the well-known varieties. Users can choose to search for a specific species or view all species randomly. Additionally, Fishbook also offers a consumer helpline for any questions or concerns.
